German police discovers explosive devices in front of Croatian embassy

German police on Monday discovered explosive devices in front of the Croatian embassy in the capital city Berlin, Welt newspaper reported.

A suspicious package was discovered in front of the Croatian Embassy in Berlin. A special police team was rushed to the scene to avoid an explosion. A hand grenade was found inside the package. Explosive experts removed the explosive device to ensure that the grenade does not explode. The suspicious package was discovered ahead of the visit of Croatia's president Ivo Josipovic.

The package was discovered around 1:00 p.m. local time. No criminal organization or group has claimed responsibility for the attempted terrorist attack. Police did not disclose who reported the package.

The Croatian leader is expected to visit Germany this Wednesday. Josipovic won the presidential elections one year ago in January 2010. He contested as a Social Democrat candidate.

Bundestag President Norbert Lammert will receive President Josipovic. One day alter, he will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. Josipovic vowed last year to gain access to the Euro zone as well as eradicating corruption.
