BAGHDAD, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- At least two people were killed and another 14 were wounded in Iraq after a series of bombs detonated on Thursday in different attacks against Christians, officials said.
The first of 10 bombs exploded at around 7:30 p.m. local time. They were placed in several residences of Christian families in six different areas of the Iraqi capital of Baghdad. Four of the bombs were deactivated before exploding, and in at least two areas, additional unexploded bombs were found.

The two bomb victims that died were in the district of al-Ghadir - where a large Christian community resides. The explosions come after al-Qaeda announced renewed threats against the Christian community, although Christmas festivities were carried out without incident. No organization or group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

On October 31, at least 52 people were killed after a group of gunmen raided Our Lady of Salvation Catholic Church in Baghdad during a Sunday ceremony.
